SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., 1 Sept. 2005. General Dynamics C4 Systems has received an $8.9 million delivery order from the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command for 1,402 AN/PRC-112G combat search and rescue (CSAR) radios, bringing the total number of HOOK2 GPS CSAR radios sold to more than 16,000 units worldwide.
The AN/PRC-112G, the latest in the General Dynamics family of CSAR radios, provides terminal guidance, encrypted two-way messaging, satellite communications and GPS-location capabilities to ensure quick, secure location and rescue of downed aircrews and other forces. Since 1980, more than 31,000 AN/PRC-112 radios have been manufactured and fielded by General Dynamics.
The General Dynamics CSAR system provides direct line-of-sight and over-the-horizon communications between downed personnel and their rescuers, broad communications functionality with manned or unmanned aircraft and communication with commercial and search and rescue satellite systems. The latest generation of the company's CSAR radio is interoperable with search and rescue equipment common to other coalition partners and with other General Dynamics survival radios.
