Semiconductor laser for fiber optic multi-channel optical sensor applications offered by TeraXion
QUEBEC CITY, Quebec, 25 Sept. 2009. TeraXion Inc. in Quebec City, Quebec, is introducing the PureSpectrum multi-channel narrow linewidth (PS-MNL) semiconductor laser system for fiber optic multi-channel optical sensor applications.
The PS-MNL semiconductor laser system has 10 laser modules in a compact 2U chassis, where each laser module provides the equivalent performance of a PureSpectrum narrow linewidth laser (PS-NLL).
The semiconductor laser sensor technology is for rugged systems such as towed seismic streamer arrays, perimeter security, 4C component ocean bottom seismic (4C-OBS) systems, in-well oil and gas monitoring systems, and structural health monitoring.
TeraXion's frequency control technology enables reduction of the optical linewidth of a reliability-proven semiconductor laser down to 5 kHz, thus enabling low phase noise and long coherence length.
The combination of these technologies makes this laser source, with an output power of as much as 80 milliwatts for fiber optic distributed sensing applications. In these systems, additional power provides the capacity to interrogate more branches with a minimum of amplification.
