BETHESDA, Md., 25 Dec. 2010. Leaders of the DRS Technologies Inc. Defense Solutions subsidiary in Bethesda, Md., are seeking to boost their company's expertise in military networking and communications hardware and software with their acquisition of Consulting & Engineering for Next Generation Networks Inc. (CenGen) of Columbia, Md.
DRS Defense Solutions acquired CenGen also to improve the company's offerings in secure mobile wireless ad hoc networks, DRS officials say. CenGen specializes in voice, streaming video, and data sharing applications in disruptive bandwidth-constrained environments. Financial details of the deal were not released.
"CenGen’s technologies incorporate a mix of wireless, microwave, cellular, satellite, and fiber-optic communications," explains Richard S. Danforth, president and chief executive officer of DRS Defense Solutions in Bethesda, Md. “Their expertise in designing and implementing secure, mobile and fixed RF network solutions will enable us to accelerate our growth in the battlefield communications market."
“Being part of DRS will give CenGen the ability to see our gateway vision become a reality -- aiding soldiers and Marines, accelerate work in areas such as test beds, information assurance, and higher order control, and access markets which would otherwise be unobtainable; while offering our existing customers additional products, services and solutions necessary to ensure communication through all stages of their mission,” says Lily Bengfort, president of CenGen.
