Fischer Connectors introduced the Fischer Rugged USB Series a flash drive with a sealed plug designed for safe transportation and storage of sensitive data in harsh environments. The company debuted the product line at the AUSA Winter Symposium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. A new area for Fischer, the USB Series was developed by the company's European operations and is a natural extension of Fischer's rugged connector products, says Dick Bickford, national sales manager at Fischer. These little "jump drives are very secure" and the sealed plug ensures that no one else can access the USB unless they have the corresponding Fischer connector on their laptop, Bickford says. The USB memory module is mounted within a rugged aluminum casing designed to provide full protection against extreme environmental conditions. The device is waterproof down to 120 meters and has a temperature resistance range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. Fitted with a signaling and protocol certified high speed USB 2.0 flash drive, the product line features a proprietary Fischer circular connector interface. The product is about the size of a key ring and only weighs 25 grams. The standard USB product comes with a 4 gigabytes capacity.
