FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., 24 Feb. 2011. Parvus Corp. in Salt Lake City is introducing the Zypad BR2000 rugged wearable computer and vehicle server for military and civil and applications. The body-worn computer uses the low-power Intel Atom processor together with high-speed wired and wireless network and device I/O interfaces. The BR2000 can serve as a soldier- and worker-wearable computer or vehicle-mount computer ready for Linux and Windows applications.As a man-wearable computer, the BR2000 fits on a tactical vest, utility belt, pocket, or backpack and interfaces with a wrist-worn, vest-mounted, or hand-held display, and/or helmet monocle. The computer and its battery weighs 1.8 pounds, and is about the size of a portable cassette tape player. Without the battery, the unit weighs 1.4 pounds and can be hard-mounted.
The tactical computer can operate in extreme temperatures, vibration, shock, and sealed against exposure to the elements, and delivers PC functionality for command and control (C2) applications. Standard I/O includes Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, RS232/422, Audio, and 2D/3D Video Output. Parvus introduced the BR2000 this week at the AUSA Winter trade show in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The computer can be configured for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, as well as for internal/removable Flash storage in standard/secure erase versions, and disposable/rechargeable battery packs or external DC power.
