Green Hills optimizes INTEGRITY real-time software for Freescale Qorivva rugged microcontroller

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., 1 March 2011. Green Hills Software in Santa Barbara, Calif., is optimizing its INTEGRITY real-time operating system to support the Power Architecture Variable Length Encoded (VLE) instruction architecture, available in Freescale Qorivva Power Architecture automotive microcontrollers such as the MPC55xx and MPC56xx families.

The VLE optimizations enable INTEGRITY to meet a minimum flash footprint of about 50 kilobits, while providing memory protection and virtual memory for application and system processes.

The INTEGRITY RTOS is designed to address software partitioning, and VLE optimization allows more room for application development by enabling the operating system to run on more memory and cost-constrained microcontrollers.
