BAE Systems officials created a new web site to helps government and commercial users manage obsolete parts for systems and platforms, including entire aircraft, ships, vehicles, machines, and electronics. The site -- www.baesystems.com/avcom -- utilizes the company's set of software tools and services called AVCOM (Advanced Component Obsolescence Management).AVCOM is essentially a web tool that enables users to forecast when a part will become obsolete or too expensive, and then finds suitable replacements from across the marketplace. AVCOM's database can access more than 100 million parts.
