SIDNEY, N.Y., 31 July 2011. Amphenol Industrial in Sidney, N.Y., is introducing the Amphe-BTS power connector for providing power from a wireless, mast-mounted base station to a remote radio head. This compact, energy-efficient connector meets the strict requirements set forth by the next generation of base stations. The field-installable connector is for base station manufacturers, telephone operator technicians, AC-DC power supply manufacturers, and related installers. The Amphe-BTS circular connector provides 360-degree shielding from electro-magnetic interference (EMI) with grounding fingers and uses a bayonet locking mechanism that resists the effects of strong shock and vibration. The connectors also resist the effects of lightning. The receptacle has crimp contacts and the plug has screw termination contacts, and complies with ISO 21207. The connector is based on MIL-C-26482 series 2, and has a brass shell construction with tin over nickel plating to resist corrosion resistant and compliant with ISO 21207.
The Amphe-BTS has a cable sealing range of 7 to 18 millimeters, operates in temperatures from -55 to 85 degrees Celsius, and is available in a standard two-way 48-volt DC, two-way reverse gender 48 volts DC, and three-way 400 volts DC/250 volts AC power configuration.
