SIDNEY, N.Y., 19 Sept. 2011. Amphenol Industrial in Sidney, N.Y., is introducing a high speed Max-M12 rugged connector for harsh-environment use in navigation, GPS and telematics, sensors, controllers, actuators, switches, construction machinery, forestry equipment, mining machinery, and agricultural machinery. The connector is designed to withstand high vibration and high temperatures, and meets IEC 61076-2-101 and SAE J 2839 standards. The connector is housed in an HDM 12 EX impact-resistant metal shell and available as a 90-degree right-angle connector or in a straight version. The connector is available in 4- and 5-pin configurations with B, D, and P polarity codes in line with IEC 61076-2-101 specifications and come as stand-alone connectors or cable assemblies with the option to over-mold the cable assembly.
The connector can be terminated into 0.8-square-millimeter or 0.5-square-millimeter wires as defined by SAE J1128 and 0.75-square-millimeter or 0.50-square-millimeter conductors as defined by ISO 6722. The new connection system can withstand temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 125 degrees Celsius, while maintaining a current rating of 4 amps at 250 volts (4-pin) and 60 Volts (5-pin). The IP67 and IP69K compliant Max-M12 is dust and waterproof and resistant to pressure and high temperature washdowns.
The dielectric withstanding of the Max-M12 is 1,000 volts. The connection is rated for impulse voltage of 1,500 volts. The connector's electrical insulation provides a resistance of more than 20 mega-ohms, while providing a high-temperature life of 1,000 hours at 125-degrees C.
The contacts are rated at less than or equal to 5 milli-ohms each with a maximum drop of 50 millivolts. For more information contact Amphenol online at www.amphenol-industrial.com.
