EUGENE, Ore., 30 Sept. 2011. VersaLogic Corp. in Eugene, Ore., is introducing the VL-EPHs-S1 embedded computing expansion module that provides SATA interface capabilities for the company's SUMIT-based embedded systems. The VL-EPHs-S1 operates in temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, is IPC-A-610 Class 2 and RoHS compliant, and meets MIL-STD-202G specifications for mechanical shock and vibration for harsh environments. The VL-EPHs-S1 mezzanine card uses the SUMIT interface standard, and is based on the SUMIT-micro format. The 90-by-32-millimeter card is one-third the width of standard PC/104 modules, and attach to the SUMIT connector secured by two mounting holes using standard standoffs. The VL-EPHs-S1 expansion module provides SATA signals via the PCI Express lane of the SUMIT-A connector. The on-board SATA controller supports two SATA drives in normal, RAID 0 (fast), or RAID 1 (safe) configuration.
The two standard latching SATA connectors are compatible with traditional rotating drives and solid-state SATA drives. An on-board BIOS extension enables booting from SATA devices. Standard drivers are available for compatibility with most x86 operating systems including Windows, Windows Embedded, Linux, VxWorks, and QNX.
