EC-Q200-qualified varistor for automotive and other severe-environment applications introduced by AVX

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C., 28 Oct. 2011. AVX Corp. in Fountain Inn, S.C., is introducing the AEC-Q200-qualified CAN0005 varistor for automotive and other severe-environment applications. The bi-directional CAN0005 varistor also provides current and energy handling capabilities as well as EMI/RFI attenuation, and functions a miniature 0402 device that provides sub-1-nanosecond response to electro-static-discharge (ESD) strikes. The CAN0005 varistor provides an ESD rating of 25 kilovolts. The low profile 0402 varistor has a fast response time to ESD and can withstand successive 1k strikes at 8 kilovolts per IEC 61000-4-2.
