Tools for creating IR, hyperspectral, and radar imaging processors optimized for GPGPUs introduced by Mercury

CHELMSFORD, Mass., 14 Oct. 2011. Mercury Computer Systems in Chelmsford, Mass., is introducing the Imaging Toolkit for military and commercial electro-optical, infrared (EO/IR), hyperspectral, and radar imaging applications development.

Mercury has optimized its Imaging Toolkit for general purpose graphics processing units (GPGPUs) in an open framework to integrate sensor imagery. GPGPU math co-processors perform parallel processing and high-bandwidth imaging on large data sets for the Imaging Tooolkit.

Challenges in processing sensor information include combining several imaging frames in real-time to create actionable information. Mercury's Imaging Toolkit provides a layer of abstraction between the application and the GPGPU code to ease programming by insulating developers from the GPGPU implementation details.

Imaging Toolkit algorithms include imaging functions to support processing high-bandwidth data streams from several sensors and take advantage of the GPGPU's parallel multicore processing.
