WATERLOO, Ontario, Jan. 14, 2012. Raytheon Canada Limited has been awarded a Technology Demonstration Program for its Next Generation High Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) by the Canadian Department of National Defense, Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC).

Raytheon Canada Limited has been awarded a Technology Demonstration Program for its Next Generation High Frequency Surface Wave Radar (HFSWR) by the Canadian Department of National Defense, Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC). A system will now be installed at Hartlen Point, Nova Scotia, with a demonstration to commence in 2012.
Raytheon Canada's HFSWR is an over-the-horizon sensor that detects and tracks ship traffic within a nation's 200 nautical mile EEZ. The technology has been in development for more than 20 years with the support of DRDC. Internationally, Raytheon Canada has systems operational in the Black Sea and the Indian Ocean.
