Rugged connector for military communications and vehicular radios introduced by ITT
SANTA ANA, Calif., 16 March 2012. ITT Interconnect Solutions in Santa Ana, Calif., is introducing the MIL-DTL 38999 series II rugged connector for military communications systems like portable radios and military vehicular radios. The custom, low-cost connector comes with a contact for a printed circuit board and a rear seal for use in corrosive environments.
ITT builds the MIL-DTL 38999 to customer specifications to be intermateable with standard MIL-DTL 38999 connectors, withstand thermal cycling, and exhibit air pressure sealing to 5 pounds per square inch.
ITT engineers created the MIL-DTL 38999 series II connector as a modification of an existing product by re-designing the rear insulator and shell of a Mil-DTL 38999 series II series connector to incorporate an epoxy compound, company officials say.
