ASHBURN, Va., 18 May 2012. Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the XF07 family of rugged Express Mezzanine Cards (XMCs) based on the Xilinx Kintex-7 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for military embedded systems that do not require the largest Xilinx Virtex 7 high-end FPGAs.
The XF07 FPGA XMC family will consist of standard commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) analog, digital, and fiber-optic XMC cards available with user-specific I/O and memory.
Embedded computing systems designers who need COTS rugged XMC FPGA offerings with specialized I/O can use the XF07 family's architecture that speeds the availability of custom solutions, Curtiss-Wright officials say. This has been difficult previously because changing I/O on a standard card has required moving the FPGA and memory components to find space on the card for I/O.
The XF07 architecture eliminates re-design complexity by establishing a common core FPGA processing block and defined circuit board territory, company officials say. Conduction cooling is optional.
