CLEVELAND, 23 Aug. 2012. Embedded Planet in Cleveland is introducing the EP1020xS and the EP2020xS credit card-sized custom single-board computers for imaging, industrial control, and networking applications.

The small-form-factor embedded computing modules are based on the Freescale QorIQ P1020 or P2020 dual-core PowerPC microprocessors operating at speeds to 1.2 GHz. The modules measure 3.5 by 2.2 by 1.5 inches.

The boards are for combined control and data plane applications on a single board, thereby reducing system cost, thermal budget and power consumption.

The EP1020xS runs as a stand-alone development board, has as much as 256 megabytes of DDR3 RAM with ECC, and as much as 128 megabytes, with additional 512 megabytes NAND flash via I/O board. The computer board has two Gigabit Ethernet ports via I/O board, one RS-232 on board with additional 12 ports available via optional I/O board.
