Green Hills Software introduces new compiler release for embedded systems designers

BOSTON, 20 Sept. 2012. Green Hills Software, a provider of embedded software solutions, has announced a new release of its compiler toolchain. This release increases the number of processors the tool supports, as well as adding several other features.
The new products supported include Freescale Qorivva MPC57xx automotive processors, the first of many releases on an aligned roadmap with Freescale Semiconductor; Freescale e6500 core QorIQ T4240 network processors with AltiVec support; the new Freescale PX-series microcontrollers; ARM Cortex-A7, R5 and R7.
The software also includes upgrades and increased efficiency over previous releases. The new release includes a utility that statically computes maximum stack usage, even in programs that use traditionally insurmountable features such as recursion, interrupts, and function pointers. This utility helps designers avoid stack overflows and reduce memory requirements in complex systems.
The program also includes a new generation of coverage analysis technology that improves the efficiency of coverage-instrumented code to assist developers in performing testing and quality control. The software also reduces run-time stack use, which enables aggressive speed optimizations in memory-constrained embedded systems.
