Rugged handheld computers -- smartphone, pocket PC, and tablet -- introduced by Tulip
QUAKERTOWN, Pa., 12 May 2013. Tulip Development Laboratory Inc. in Quakertown, Pa., is introducing three rugged computers -- a rugged smartphone, a rugged pocket PC, and a rugged tablet computer -- for use in harsh environments.
The Xhand Prevail 1 ultra-rugged smartphone with 4-inch display is for field professionals and outdoor enthusiasts who need a rock-solid hand-held in a function-rich Smartphone that runs the Android 4.0 or Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system.
The Xhand Prevail 1 weighs 6.3 ounces, is waterproof, and meets MIL-STD-810G and IP67 for protection from dust, water, vibration, shock, and altitude, or temperature extremes.
It has a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 512 megabytes of RAM, for performance in the field for displaying images and graphics, or using customized work software. It comes with 2 gigabytes of onboard memory, expandable via a MicroSD card slot.
The 4-inch, 800-by-480 WVGA capacitive touch screen is sunlight-readable and scratch-resistant. The back contains a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with an LED flash, for crisp photos in low light or total darkness.
Xhand Prevail 1 provides voice and high-speed data transmission worldwide over GSM or CDMA networks, and connects to 802.11 b/g/n WiFi networks. A standard 1530 mAh Li-Ion battery offers extended operating time, and embedded GPS, E-compass, and G-Sensor are included.
The Xhand Triumph 7 is an ultra-rugged, full-function pocket PC with 5.56-inch display is for working with detailed maps and other complex visuals.
It has full Windows 7 Professional PC capability for desktop-like functionality for applications where weather extremes and rough handling are unavoidable. The Xhand Triumph 7 has an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz processor with 64 gigabytes SSD and 2 gigabytes of DDR2 RAM.
Xhand Triumph 10 is an ultra-rugged, full-function mobile PC with 10.8-inch display. The tablet PC withstands extreme weather and harsh handling, has an Intel Atom N2800 dual-core processor with a 64 or 128 gigabytes SSD, expandable via microSD, and 4 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM. It runs the Windows 7 Ultimate operating system, and is ready for Windows 8.
Xhand Triumph 10 weighs 2.9 pounds, and measures 1.2 inches thick. It is IP65-rated and meets stringent MIL-STD-810G requirements for protection from dust, water, vibration, shock, altitude and temperature extremes.
