Graphic user interface for MIL-STD-1553 remote terminal setup introduced by Holt
MISSION VIEJO, Calif., 5 July 2013. Holt Integrated Circuits in Mission Viejo, Calif., is introducing a graphic user interface (GUI) as an interactive tool for MIL-STD-1553 databus remote terminal configuration.
The GUI will be included free with Holt's MIL-STD-1553 design and development kits and is intended to simplify remote terminal setup. A user guide is available for download from Holt's Website at www.holtic.com/documents/449-an-560-rt-gui-user-guide_v-rev-newpdf.do.
The GUI targets configuration of MIL-STD-1553 remote terminals based on the following Holt protocol devices: HI-6120/HI-6121 remote terminal, HI-6130/HI-6131 single or dual remote terminal, or HI-2130 BC/MT/remote terminal.
The top-level setup screen enables the user to select device type and configure global terminal requirements such as illegal command detection, broadcast command handling, RAM buffer configuration and RAM error detection and correction.
Front-end choices narrow the presentation of following GUI screens so the user only sees relevant data input screens.
After completing the configuration screens, the user has options to save project and output files. The output files convey the necessary remote terminal Descriptor Table, remote terminal command illegalization table and initial settings for configuration registers of supported devices.
The text output files present the tables as C-language compatible declarations that can be imported as header files into the compiler design environment. Saved projects can be reloaded and edited later. Projects for HI-6120/21 are transformed for HI-6130/31 (or vice versa) with just a few clicks.
The GUI executable is available on request and is shipped free with Holt MIL-STD-1553 development kits. For more information contact Holt online at www.holtic.com.
