Alta Data chooses transceiver/transformer from Holt for Ethernet MIL-STD-1553 converter
MISSION VIEJO, Calif., 5 May 2014. Avionics databus experts at Alta Data Technologies LLC in Rio Rancho, N.M., needed a transceiver/transformer for the company's eNet2-1553 real-time Ethernet MIL-STD-1553 converter device. They found their solution from Holt Integrated Circuits in Mission Viejo, Calif.
Alta Data designers are choosing the Holt HI-2579 transceiver/transformer combination product for Alta's eNet2-1553 product, which provides remoting of 1553 operations on 10/100/1000 Ethernet IP/UDP local area networks (LAN).
The eNet2-1553 rugged device provides real-time Ethernet connectivity for two dual-redundant 1553 (A/B) buses for in-field applications or point-point laboratory usage.

The Holt HI-2579 is a small 3.3-volt MIL-STD-1553/1760 dual transceiver with integrated dual transformers. The IC is hermetically sealed on a ceramic LCC substrate and dual transformers are mounted in the same package.
The ceramic substrate allows extended temperature operation from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius, achieves moisture sensitivity level 1, and is available with optional burn-in for extended temperature range devices.
The Alta eNet2-1553 provides one-component solution to interface a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) with a dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553 bus. Alta's eNet2-1553 device implements a real-time UDP server FPGA design that eliminates traditional IP/UDP software stacks.

This capability enables users to control 1553 messages via an Ethernet LAN with less than 10 microseconds of latency between the two different networks.
In addition, the product line can auto bridge 1553 and ARINC-429 (eNet-A429) network packets to Ethernet UDP packets for avionics monitoring without client computer interaction.
