3U and 6U VPX embedded computing boards with server-class processors introduced by X-ES
MIDDLETON, Wis., 7 April 2015. Extreme Engineering Solutions Inc. (X-ES) in Middleton, Wis., is introducing the XPedite7670 3U OpenVPX REDI single-board computer and the XCalibur4640 6U VPX single-board computer for military and aerospace embedded computing applications.
The embedded computing boards are based on the Intel Xeon D server-class processor with support for as many as eight Xeon cores and two channels of ECC memory.
Dual integrated 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports natively support XAUI/KX4/KR to further enhance I/O capabilities, while reducing concerns for size, weight, power consumption, and cost (SWaP-C).
The boards come with 24 PCI Express 3.0 lanes, eight PCI Express 2.0 lanes, six SATA 6 gigabit-per-second ports, four USB 3.0 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports provide many options for system expansion, connectivity, and storage.

Native extended temperature support in the Xeon D processor eliminates the need for advanced individual unit screening and provides enhanced reliability in extreme environments. Further power savings for embedded processing applications have been achieved by removing lower-priority has, such as graphics support.
The XPedite7670 and XCalibur4640 offer Wind River VxWorks and X-ES Enterprise Linux (XEL) board support packages, with enhanced boot speed and security.
