Military supply center orders 690 SINCGARS circuit cards from Exelis to support legacy radio system

COLUMBUS, Ohio, 18 May 2015. U.S. government logistics experts announced a plan earlier this month to purchase 690 circuit cards from the Exelis Inc. Electronic Systems segment in Fort Wayne, Inc., to support the military legacy Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS).
Officials of the Defense Logistics Agency's Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) in Columbus, Ohio, issued a request for quote to Exelis to provide the SINCGARS circuit cards. The value of the upcoming order has yet to be negotiated.
Exelis, under its former name of the ITT Corp. Communications Systems segment, developed SINCGARS in the 1980s as a secure combat network radio system with encryption and frequency-hopping capability to avoid enemy eavesdropping. Since the program's inception more than 570,000 SINCGARS radios have been purchased.
Exelis officials say SINCGARS is the most widely fielded combat networking radio in the world.

The DSCC is the Defense Logistics Agency's primary depot for the resupply of electronic spare parts for various U.S. Department of Defense services and agencies.
