Curtiss-Wright to provide video management avionics for Brazilian military police helicopters

Avionics experts at Brazilian helicopter manufacturer Helibras needed video-management technology for the EC 145 helicopters that Helibras provides to the Policia Militar de Rio de Janeiro for public security video surveillance missions. They found their solution from the Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions Division in Ashburn, Va.

They found their solution from the Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions Division in Ashburn, Va.

Helibras helicopter avionics designers are asking Curtiss-Wright to provide an integrated video management system (VMS) to police helicopters performing public security video surveillance.

Police officials requested Curtiss-Wright's VMS because it delivered the most complete and cost-effective solution to meet their needs, including the fully integrated hardware system, support for software configuration, and comprehensive services, including end-user training., Curtiss-Wright officials say.

The Policia Militar de Rio de Janeiro will use their EC 145 helicopters during the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Helibras (Helicopters of Brazil Inc.) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters.

The Military Police of the state of Rio de Janeiro is a reserve and ancillary force of the Brazilian army. Its primary mission policing for the maintenance of public order in the State of Rio de Janeiro. This military police force has been deployed overseas under the United Nations in Angola, Mozambique, East-Timor, Sudan, and Haiti.

Curtiss-Wright video management systems include mission displays, video distribution, video recording, switching and streaming technology for police, customs, coast guard, border patrol, military, search & rescue, air ambulance, and government agency aircraft and ground law enforcement applications.

Curtiss-Wright manufactured the products covered by this agreement at its facility in Letchworth, England, and shipped the products to Helibras in Brazil.
