Texas Instruments wideband frequency synthesizer for military applications introduced by Mouser
MANSFIELD, Texas, 7 April 2016. Electronics distributor Mouser Electronics Inc. in Mansfield, Texas, is stocking the LMX2592 wideband frequency synthesizer from Texas Instruments (TI) for high-performance systems, including test and measurement, defense, microwave backhaul, satellite, and wireless communications equipment.
The LMX2592 RF and microwave device is a phase-locked loop (PLL) with integrated voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs). Its single-chip architecture removes the need for several different discrete devices.
The TI LMX2592 synthesizer supports a frequency range from 20 MHz to 9.8 GHz in fractional-N and integer-N modes, and includes a 32-bit fractional divider for fine frequency selection.
In Fractional-N mode, the device can adjust the output phase by a 32-bit resolution. For applications that need fast frequency changes, the device supports a fast calibration option, which takes less than 25 microseconds.

The device includes low-dropout regulators (LDOs) that manage power-supply variations and improve noise immunity as well as a channel divider that lets designers configure as many as two differential outputs.
The device features a 1.8-GHz carrier open-loop VCO phase noise of -144.5 dBc/Hz at 1-MHz offset, meeting the multicarrier wireless Global System for Mobile (GSM) Communication standard. The device enables a very low integrated noise of 47 fs RMS jitter and meets the low noise floor requirements for clocking high-speed data converters.
