Long-range observation, target acquisition, and laser designation system introduced by Elbit
HAIFA, Israel 26 June 2014. Elbit Systems Ltd. in Haifa, Israel, is introducing the Long View CR-D (LVCR-D) long-range observation, target acquisition, and laser designation system.
The LVCR-D electro-optical system is for minimizing collateral damage through optimal guidance of munitions with coverage of laser-spot on the target by automatic detection, analysis, and correction to avoid laser-spot spillover from the target for short and long ranges, Elbit officials say.
The LVCR-D is based on the Elbit LVCR, and offers the ability to acquire long-range targets or to observe small targets such as enemy fighters in high spatial resolution under severe visual conditions day or night.
It combines a long-range continuous optical zoom forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensor, long-range day cameras, eye-safe laser range finder, GPS, magnetic compass, and a built-in target data management.
Adding a diode-pumped laser designator to the legacy LVCR, the upgraded system minimizes the risks of collateral damage, Elbit officials say. Its and has are suited for guiding munitions in fixed or dismounted applications.
