Thunderbolt solid-state Flash drive data storage alternative to USB thumb drives offered by JMR
CHATSWORTH, Calif., 26 Oct. 2015. JMR Electronics Inc. in Chatsworth, Calif., is introducing the Lightning LTNG-XTD portable Thunderbolt solid-state Flash drive that functions as a high-performance alternative to USB thumb drives, portable SATA based hard disk drives, and current solid-state drive data storage.
The compact PCI Express Flash drive with Thunderbolt 2 interface is a portable bus-powered drive requiring no external power source, and comes with 256 gigabytes storage capacity, with 512-gigabyte and 1.02-terabyte models being added in the future.
The solid-state drive connects to a compatible Mac or Windows computer with a Thunderbolt port, or at the end of a Thunderbolt device daisy chain, via its attached Thunderbolt cable.
The LTNG-XTD solid-state Flash drive capitalizes on generation M.2 PCI Express SSD technology, coupling a 20-gigabyte-per-second Thunderbolt 2 interface that provides real world sustained read and write file transfer speeds of between 1,200 to 1,400 megabytes per second.
The unit incorporates a PCI Express Generation 3 flash controller, enabling it to outperform 6-gigabyte-per-second SATA SSDs and 5-gigabyte-per-second USB 3.0 flash drives. The flash drive is compatible and certified for use with OS X (including Yosemite) and Windows 7+ OS.
To keep the size ultra-compact, the LTNG-XTD solid-state Flash drive has an integrated anodized aluminum finned heat sink covering its entire surface area which allows sustained, silent operation.
