ROCHESTER, N.Y., 15 Nov. 2016. The Harris Corp. night vision business segment in Rochester, N.Y., is introducing the F5032 lightweight night vision binocular to enhance warfighter nighttime and low-light vision capabilities, while helping to reduce eye fatigue on extended missions.
The Harris F5032’s 25 centimeter, close-range focus capability enables users to conduct tasks on the battlefield that previously were not possible. The binocular features fixed and adjustable diopter lenses to eliminate the need to change static lenses for personal or mission-specific requirements. This feature enables users to adjust their lenses during a mission to help reduce eye fatigue.
The Harris goggle includes an integrated infrared illuminator to eliminate the need for the warfighter to carry a separate illuminator. Image intensifiers enable soldiers to operate in low- and no-light combat scenarios more effectively than ever before and can be replaced at the unit level, company officials say.
“This Harris lightweight binocular delivers much more capability than any other fielded models,” says Erik Fox, vice president and general manager of the Harris night vision business. This is one of the first night-vision products resulting from the recent merger of Harris and Exelis Corp.
