Small-form-factor embedded computing systems for artificial intelligence (AI) offered by Aitech
CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Aitech Defense Systems Inc. in Chatsworth, Calif., is working together with Concurrent Real-Time Inc. in Pompano Beach, Fla. to integrate the RedHawk Linux real-time operating system (RTOS) with two of Aitech's NVIDIA Jetson TX2-based small-form-factor embedded computing systems -- the military-grade A176 Cyclone and the industrial-focused A177 Twister.
Typical uses include high-data-throughput and processing like image and data manipulation, digital filters, image and frame object edge detection, image recognition, and data analysis in military and industrial applications.
Using the Jetson TX2 and the advanced development environment of RedHawk Linux, the two units enable deep learning capabilities in a growing number of artificial intelligence (AI) environments.
RedHawk offers open-source Linux technology, advanced graphics user interface (GUI) debugging and analysis tools, and multi-core computing architecture support for high performance embedded computing (HPEC) systems.

The compact A176 Cyclone is a fanless, conduction-cooled, rugged general-purpose graphics processing unit (GPGPU) small-form-factor supercomputer that measures 5 square inches, while providing 1 teraflop of parallel processing. It draws less than 17 Watts and weighs less than 2.2 pounds.
The unit features hardware I/O and software options such as 1553, ARINC 429, camera link/HD-SDI, or composite frame grabbers, as well as internal microSD storage. These attributes increase a system's ability to scale to more complex compute-intensive applications.
Offering the same functionality as the A176, but designed for less rugged industrial environments, the A177 also handles complex computational requirements like managing several data and video streams. It also can reach 1 teraflop performance, while consuming 17 Watts and weighing less than 2.2 pounds.
These computers use CUDA, deep learning acceleration capabilities, and the real-time Linux software to ensure hard real-time performance, while several demanding embedded applications are running.
