TAMPA, Fla. – Core Avionics & Industrial Inc. (CoreAVI) in Tampa, Fla., is introducing the E9171 DO-254 safety-certifiable 3U VPX graphics module for safety-critical military and commercial aircraft avionics.

Designed for safety and efficiency, CoreAVI's VkCore SC driver is certifiable to RTCA DO-178C/EUROCAE ED-12C up to design assurance level (DAL) A, eliminates the need for separate compute and graphics APIs, enables heightened performance, flexibility, and direct access to the GPU and reduces CPU overhead.

It has VkCore SC, safety critical Vulkan-based graphics and compute driver, running VkCoreGL SC 1.0.1 OpenGL SC-based libraries, as well as CoreAVI's DO-254 hardware IP containing the AMD Embedded Radeon E9171 graphics processing unit (GPU) for embedded computing.

VkCoreGL SC 1.0.1 libraries enable legacy OpenGL applications to take advantage of the advanced capabilities of Vulkan while switching from OpenGL to Vulkan.

VkCore SC running on the AMD Radeon Embedded E9171 GPU-based compact module provides integrators with the low powered, high performance GPU their modern graphics applications demand and enables their systems to harness both graphics and compute capabilities simultaneously.

CoreAVI offers COTS-D DO-254 hardware design IP that enables rapid time to deployment, reduced risk, and safety certification of CoreAVI-powered avionics systems using the AMD Radeon Embedded E9171 GPU.

CoreAVI offers an extended temperature-screened version of the AMD Radeon Embedded E9171 GPU-based module to support the needs of safety critical avionics and other high-reliability system manufacturers.

The Radeon E9171 provides high performance compared to the predecessor AMD Radeon E8860, with H.265 video encode and decode capabilities and 4 gigabytes integrated memory.
