Avionics packaging specialist Carlo Gavazzi acquired by European embedded computer company
BROCKTON, Mass., 2 April 2009. Embedded computer manufacturer System Industrie Electronic AG (S.I.E. AG) in Lustenau, Austria, has acquired avionics packaging specialist Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions Inc. in Brockton, Mass., and has changed Gavazzi's name to S.I.E. Computing Solutions Inc.
The former Carlo Gavazzi Computing will continue with the same management, have the same headquarters in Brockton, Mass., and continue to provide avionics embedded computing and electronic packaging solutions such as VME backplane technology for avionics and military applications, as well as for industrial and telecommunications solutions. S.I.E. Computing Solutions also will continue to provide serial I/O, and PCI system expansion.
S.I.E. Computing Solutions will continue the Carlo Gavazzi tradition in providing military embedded technology such as embedded processor solutions, military embedded systems, and VME embedded solutions. All products are manufactured in the United States and comply with VITA, PICMG, and PCI-SIG standards. Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions had been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carlo Gavazzi AG electronics company in Steinhausen, Switzerland.
S.I.E. AG, a provider of computer hardware and embedded systems, bought substantially all assets of Carlo Gavazzi Computing Solutions. "While S.I.E. AG's proven capabilities in the medical and securities industries will strengthen our presence in those markets, our commitment to our core markets, such as military, will remain strong," says Chris Boutilier, president of S.I.E. Computing Solutions.

In addition to Boutilier, the executive staff of S.I.E. Computing Solutions consists of Mark F. Sullivan, chief financial officer; Chuck Barresi, vice president of sales; Jessica Isquith, vice president of corporate marketing; Steve Corbesero, vice president of engineering; and Jim Tierney, vice president of government systems.
