PARIS 16 June 2009 Xian Aviation Science and Technology Co. (XASC), an AVIC subsidiary, selected Rockwell Collins to develop avionics simulation and training solutions for the MA-60 and MA-600 flight platforms.
Under the terms of the agreement with XASC, Rockwell Collins will use its CORE simulation architecture to supply key components of the MA-60 full flight simulator and the MA-600 flight training device.
Rockwell Collins made the announcement this week at the Paris Air Show.
The MA-60 and the MA-600 training solutions will be used to support training on these aircraft at the XASC facility and Xian Aircraft Company, respectively. Deliveries are scheduled in February 2010 for the MA-60, and September 2009 for the MA-600.
"Through the successful program execution of these two platforms, it paves the way for both Rockwell Collins and XASC to further collaborate on the high-level simulation devices for the Chinese and western aircraft types in the future," says Jin Dongsheng, president of XASC.
Work on the XASC simulator programs will take place at Rockwell Collins locations in Sterling, Va., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Burgess Hill, United Kingdom.
Designed from the user and maintainer's point of view, the advanced CORE simulation architecture features common open reusable elements including scalable software adaptable for multiple training devices, integrated tool sets and Rockwell Collins' display and image generation technology.
