Posted by John McHaleCHICAGO Ill., 15 June 2010. navAero announced the achievement of an STC of the t-BagC22Class 2 electronic flight bag (EFB) STC for the Boeing 747-400 aircraft. ST02651NY-D is the fourteenth STC issued for the t-Bag C22 EFB and compliments the previously achieved STC for the B747-100/200/300 (ST10815SC). This certification brings B747-400 operators the ability to realize the benefits of using enhanced situational awareness information hosted and displayed on a Class 2 EFB platform that is certified for use in all phases of flight. The B747-400 STC was architected with dual t-BagC22 Class 2 EFB systems and provides Ethernet cross-connectivity between the dual independent EFB systems for data sharing and Ethernet extensions for printer capability as well as the communications interfaces required to implement the Jeppesen Airport Moving Map software application for enhanced situational awareness. "We are tremendously excited about the achievement of this STC for our Class 2 EFB system into this aircraft type," says navAero spokesman, Ken Crowhurst. "Both commercial transport and cargo airlines running B747-400s have the long-distance operational needs that can be positively impacted through the deployment of Class 2 EFB technology. This certification gives B747-400 operators the ability to deploy our rugged hardware platform to run the most demanding and advanced software applications. "These technology assets will help them to improve their operational efficiency and increase their situational awareness," he continues. "Deployments of this STC have already begun with two B747-400 operators and there are more to follow very soon." The certification work was carried out by navAero's strategic partner for certification services, Delta Engineering in New Castle, Del.
