Posted by John McHaleENGLEWOOD, Colo., 17 June 2010. Jeppesen signed a five-year charting navigation service renewal agreement with Tyrolean Airways, a subsidiary of Austrian Airlines, to provide the commercial carrier with tailored paper charting service and digital Web access to Jeppesen charts through e-Link online and e-Link for Windows applications. A Jeppesen customer for 30 years, solutions provided in the agreement help Tyrolean Airways prepare to transition from using paper charts to implementing full digital navigation information solutions. Jeppesen e-Link online services supplement tailored paper airway manual charting through a Web-based charting application for the cockpit, which is presented in a Windows operating environment. "Jeppesen provides solutions that help make the transition from paper-based information to electronic services easier to implement, as we investigate the further implementation of digital technology across our fleet," says Capt. Harald Lazar, Tyrolean Airways vice president, Flight Operations. "Using tailored Jeppesen paper chart manuals that are also accessed online allows us to process data more efficiently, while we examine our long-term digital information strategy for the flight deck." Through the agreement, Tyrolean Airways also implements Destination Booklet and Text Supplement services from Jeppesen to help organize charting material on board and reduce strain on operations staff through less revision filing activity. Tyrolean Airways is a 100 percent subsidiary of Austrian Airlines and is specialized as the regional carrier in the group.
