Posted by John McHale FAIRFAX, Va., 7 Aug. 5, 2010. Era a.s., a subsidiary of SRA International, Inc. (NYSE: SRX), entered into a licensing agreement with Lianozovo Electromechanical Plant (LEMZ R&P Corp.) for the manufacturing and delivery of Era's air traffic management (ATM)multilateration and automatic-dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) products within the Russian Federation. The initial agreement lasts for 10 years and includes the installation of an Era MSS multilateration and ADS-B surveillance solution at Pulkovo Airport. This system will be used by LEMZ to demonstrate the operational capabilities of the technology to potential future users. LEMZ is a research and production corporation that develops, manufactures, and manages radar technologies for the Russian Federation as well as 50 other countries around the world. Recently, LEMZ chose Era's next-generation surveillance technology for solutions in Moscow and Sochi. "We are very pleased with this agreement because it allows us to produce modern multilateration equipment in accordance with Russian standards," says Dr. Gennady Bendersky, LEMZ R&P Corp. director general. "The combination of multilateration with our Vega A-SMGCS system will ensure an unprecedented level of ground and air traffic safety for Russian Airports."Era's multilateration solution provides higher accuracy, faster update rates, better coverage, and improved reliability when compared to conventional radar, at a much lower initial cost and with lower annual maintenance and support costs, Era officials say.
