787 Dreamliner maintenance for Japan Airlines to be provided by Hamilton Sundstrand

WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn., 26 July 2011. Officials at Japan Airlines (JAL) chose Hamilton Sundstrand Corp. engineers to provide supply chain maintenance for its systems on JAL's 35 787 Dreamliner aircraft. . Hamilton Sundstrand engineers will provide repair services, inventory support services, technical cooperation, and logistics for the air management system, electric power system, emergency power system, nitrogen generation system, and primary and remote power distribution systems of JAL's fleet of 787s. The new agreement expands upon a previous one that Hamilton Sundstrand has for an On Site Support program, which provides spare parts support on different aircraft that make up the JAL fleet.The maintenance support agreement between the two companies will last for 10 years with an option to extend for another 10 years. The value of the agreement as well as the extension option is projected to be worth about $350 million. Hamilton Sundstrand officials will provide asset management for JAL and component repair services at both JAL and Hamilton Sundstrand repair facilities. It will be managed by Hamilton Sundstrand's C.A.R.E. (Comprehensive Accessory Repair and Exchange) teams located in the U.S., Singapore and Japan. JAL is part of the launch group of airlines that placed early orders for the 787.
