Crystal Group, maker of rugged computers for airborne applications, acquired
HIAWATHA, Iowa, 3 Aug. 2011.Rugged computersspecialist Crystal Group Inc. in Hiawatha, Iowa, has been acquired by Dexter Apache Holdings Inc. in Fairfield, Iowa, with interests in manufacturing, financial services, and distribution. The Crystal Group acquisition will help diversify Dexter Apache's holdings in diversified manufacturing.
Crystal Group President Scott Kongable, will continue to lead the company, and will keep Crystal Group headquartered in Hiawatha, Iowa. Craig Jensen, Crystal Group's chairman and chief executive officer, will retire. All of Crystal Group's core competencies, business models, product lines, development, and staffing will remain unchanged, company officials say.
Crystal Group designs and manufacturersrugged computer servers, displays, storage devices, and networking equipment for shipboard, airborne, land-based, and commercial industrial applications. Crystal Group's rugged computers offer extended capability in shock and vibration, as well as operational temperature ranges. The computers meet or exceed MIL-STDs 810F/G, 461E/F, 464A, 704E, 1275D, 160D, and MIL-S-901D.
