Big week for Boeing: jet maker announces its two largest-ever commercial airliner deals this week at Dubai

SEATTLE, 17 Nov. 2011. Leaders of the Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA) Commercial Airplanes segment in Seattle announced deals today worth $24.1 billion to sell as many as 380 versions of the company's 737 single-aisle jetliner, and eight 777-300ER extended-range widebody twin-engine jetliners. These purchases were announced during this week's Dubai Air Show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Lion Air in Jakarta, Indonesia, is buying 201 of Boeing's future 737 MAX fuel-efficient passenger jetliners and 29 next-generation 737-900ER extended range aircraft in a deal worth $21.7 billion, and Singapore Airlines in Singapore is buying eight 777-300ER passenger jets in a deal worth $2.4 billion, Boeing officials say.

These purchases were announced during this week's Dubai Air Show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.Lion Air in Jakarta, Indonesia, is buying 201 of Boeing's future 737 MAX fuel-efficient passenger jetliners and 29 next-generation 737-900ER extended range aircraft in a deal worth $21.7 billion, and Singapore Airlines in Singapore is buying eight 777-300ER passenger jets in a deal worth $2.4 billion, Boeing officials say.When completed, the Lion Air sale will be the largest commercial airplane order ever in Boeing’s history by both dollar volume and total number of airplanes, Boeing officials say. The deal follows Sunday's announcement of what was then Boeing's largest-ever single jet sale of 50 777-300ER passenger aircraft to Emirates Airline in Dubai for $18 billion.

The 777-300ER sale to Singapore Airlines previously was attributed to an unidentified customer, Boeing officials say. Singapore will use the new widebody aircraft for fleet modernization and growth. The airline has ordered a total of 85 Boeing 777s -- 27 of which are 777-300ERs, Boeing officials say.
