U.S. Army, U.S. Special Operations Command orders Saab Carl-Gustaf portable weapon system

WASHINGTON, 8 Dec. 2011. U.S. Army and U.S. Special Operations Command officials have placed a combined order with defense and security company Saab for its Carl-Gustaf man-portable weapon system. This contract marks the first time the Army has bought the 84mm recoilless rifle system, according to a spokesperson.

This contract marks the first time the Army has bought the 84mm recoilless rifle system, according to a spokesperson.

"Saab is thrilled that the U.S. Army has joined with our existing U.S. Special Operations Command customer in using the Carl-Gustaf system," says Dan-Ake Enstedt, Saab North America president.

The Carl-Gustaf multi-role, man-portable, shoulder-fired weapon system has been modernized and adapted to meet new requirements.
