MUNICH, 22 March 2012. Presagis, a provider of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation, and embedded graphics software, have signed a reseller agreement with Flexible Software Solutions. As a result, Presagis now resells Flexible Software Solutions’ off-the-shelf User Application Accelerator (UA2) and User Application Emulator (UA Emulator), which work exclusively with the Presagis VAPS XT ARINC 661 module, for developing end-to-end embedded ARINC 661 systems.
Adoption of the ARINC 661 standard, which aims to normalize the definition of a Cockpit Display System (CDS) and the communication between the CDS and User Applications which manage aircraft avionics functions, is increasing. Yet, relatively little expertise on how to implement the standard exists, says a spokesperson. The availability of pre-integrated off-the-shelf tools that help manage the complexities of ARINC 661 development out of box is a significant step forward, the representative adds. Through integrated modeling and automated code generation, development time, software errors, and overall project risk can be reduced.
By reselling UA2 and UA Emulator, Presagis will be offering User Application (UA) development solutions for the ARINC 661 development environment, as well as specialized support for User Interface development for the aerospace and vetronics (vehicle-based electronics) sectors.
Flexible Software Solutions’ Unified Modeling Language (UML) tool integration also enables Presagis to work with various UML tool vendors, such as IBM Rational Rhapsody, Atego Artisan Studio, and MathWorks Simulink, and enables developers to use their preferred tools.
“In combination with Presagis VAPS XT ARINC 661 module, UA2 enables system engineers to create User Application Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) interactions quickly, consistently, and accurately, without requiring extensive knowledge of the ARINC 661 protocols,” says Rob Harwood-Smith, director, Flexible Software Solutions.
