Cessna selects Garmin G5000 flight deck for new Citation Longitude
OLATHE, Kan., 24 May 2012. Cessna Aircraft Company officials have selected the Garmin G5000 integrated avionics system, from Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ:GRMN), for the company’s newest and longest-range business jet, the Citation Longitude.
The G5000 provides a pilot interface with digital touch-screen controllers and multi-pane, widescreen displays with Garmin’s Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) for situational awareness.
“Cessna was the first airframe manufacturer to announce selection of the G1000, G2000, and G5000 integrated flight decks. We look forward to continuing the tradition on the new super mid-size Citation Longitude and continuing to serve Cessna customers with advanced cockpit solutions,” explains Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing.
The G5000 system includes various situational awareness and safety features:
SVT, which presents a 3D depiction of terrain, obstacles, traffic, and the runway environment on the high-resolution primary flight displays
Dual integrated FMS supporting RNP, LPV, TOLD, and Performance data
Solid-state weather radar, featuring turbulence detection and ground clutter suppression
Integrated Electronic Checklists
Electronic documents, manuals and charts linked to FMS
Active and passive traffic surveillance functionality using advanced TCAS II/ACAS II technology and featuring patented Garmin ADS-B target correlation and tracking for industry-leading traffic management and airspace monitoring
Optional Iridium transceiver providing worldwide weather datalink in addition to voice and data communications
Optional XM WX Satellite Weather for U.S. and Canada provides a variety of real-time weather data such as NEXRAD, METAR, lightning, winds aloft, echo tops and more
Compliant with FANS 1/A and CPDLC requirements
Garmin integrated flight decks are now available on 10 different Cessna aircraft models, including the Stationair, Skylane, Skyhawk, Corvalis TTx, Caravan, Citation Mustang, Citation M2, Citation Ten, Citation Latitude, and Citation Longitude.
