HOOFDDORP, The Netherlands, 28 June 2012. Fokker Services won a Major Change Approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) in Cologne for the integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) on Fokker 100 and Fokker 70 aircraft. The integrated GNSS enables Fokker operators to obtain more accurate aircraft track-keeping performance, and achieve shorter approaches and lower decision heights, save time and fuel, lower carbon emissions, and enhance safety and schedule reliability.
Fokker Services staff has developed a modification that provides GPS navigation with high accuracy and integrity, while retaining today’s flight management system (FMS) capability. Fokker Services combines inertial navigation data and GPS navigation data to feed into the existing flight management system. This prevents the introduction of an all-new flight management system with the associated large investment.
