HOOFDDORP, The Netherlands, 24 Sept. 2012. Avionics technicians at Fokker Services in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands, will install Apple iPad-based electronic flight bags (EFBs) on the 21 Airbus A320, A330 and A340 passenger jetliners of Sri Lanka flag carrier SriLankan Airlines based in Katunayake, Sri Lanka.
Fokker Services and SriLankan Airlines signed an agreement covering the introduction of the Fokker Services EFB avionics solution for iPad on SriLankan Airlines A320, A330 and A340 fleet. SriLankan will be the first airline to implement this solution on all Airbus narrowbody and widebody types, Fokker Services officials say.
The Fokker Services EFB for iPad is a Class 2B, EASA-certified installation including mounting and power supply. SriLankan Airlines initially will use the iPad EFB for on-board digital flight manuals. Later, airline officials will introduce other functionalities like aircraft takeoff/landing performance calculations.
The Fokker Services EFB for iPad covers the hardware to mount and power the iPad, certification, and supporting data, such as manual supplements.
