LONGMONT, Colo., 16 Oct. 2012.Mountain Secure Systems (MSS), a subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries (PSI), will provide upgraded digital data recorders (DDRs) to Lockheed Martin for its Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP), a targeting system for fixed-wing aircraft in use by the U.S. Air Force and 14 international air forces.
MSS will deliver the new DDRs to Lockheed Martin under a multi-million dollar contract. The devices will be provided in several installments, from late 2012 to early 2013. MSS provided two previous generations of DDRs to the Sniper pod.
MSS engineers incorporated various upgrades and customizations to meet program requirements for Lockheed Martin's new DDR, including adherence to MIL-STD-810F. The new DDR includes unit removability, custom connectors, tool-less handles, pre-set secure erase functions, and sealed enclosures to protect it from environmental elements like salt, fog, dust, humidity, and fungus.
MSS provides ruggedized solutions for traditional hard drives, subsystem integration, and commercial aircraft in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems, as well as solid-state drives (SSDs) and a range of outdoor wireless network solutions for video, voice, and data applications.
