BERLIN, 5 May 2013.Fixed-base operator (FBO) specialist Signature Flight Support in Orlando, Fla., opened a second FBO location in Berlin, Germany, this week when the company began operating an FBO satellite station at Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL).
Signature also operates an FBO at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport (SXF). As the closest airport to the city center of Berlin, Tegel is a popular destination for business travelers, company officials say. Signature’s other operations in Germany currently include facilities in Frankfurt and Munich.
“The business clients at Tegel are primarily involved with the larger international manufacturing companies in the area, but we believe the leisure traveler will also follow suit in using the Signature facilities of this convenient airport," says Peter Bouwer, EMEa director of operations for signature.
Berlin Tegel is the main international airport in Berlin, and is five miles northwest of the center of Berlin. In 2010 it was the fourth busiest airport in Germany.
Ultimately Tegel will close when Berlin commercial air traffic is consolidated into the future Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
