LynxOS-178 is a safety-critical partitioned real-time operating system based on open standards APIs, and has been deployed on commercial and military avionics systems, LynuxWorks officials say.
LynxOS-178 has received Reusable Software Component (RSC) acceptance from the FAA for DO-178B certification. RSC certification acknowledges a speedier, smoother and more reliable development path for system integrators.
LynxOS-178 2.2.3 is based on a set of Power Architecture optimized tools to give an easy migration for existing designs to Power Architectures such as the QorIQ family from Freescale, and will offer off-the-shelf BSPs for COTS and development boards from Freescale, GE Intelligent Systems and Curtiss Wright Defense Solutions.
LynxOS-178 2.2.3 also offers a native POSIX API and FACE application programming interface for easy migration of software applications across different commercial and military avionics systems.
