Curtiss-Wright expands Defense Solutions division, adds Avionics & Electronics, Peerless, and Indal

ASHBURN, Va., 22 May 2014. Curtiss-Wright Corp. (NYSE:CW), as part of its recent One Curtiss-Wright reorganization strategy, has expanded its Defense Solutions division in Ashburn, Va. to include the company’s Avionics & Electronics Group, as well as its Peerless Instrument and INDAL Technologies businesses.

ASHBURN, Va., 22 May 2014. Curtiss-Wright Corp. (NYSE:CW), as part of its recent One Curtiss-Wright reorganization strategy, has expanded its Defense Solutions division in Ashburn, Va. to include the company’s Avionics & Electronics Group, as well as its Peerless Instrument and INDAL Technologies businesses.

Effective 1 January 2014, Curtiss-Wright is now comprised of Commercial/Industrial, Defense, and Energy segments.

Curtiss-Wright Corporation President/CEO David C. Adams announced the One Curtiss-Wright vision in December 2013; the intent is to create a more strategically aligned, market-facing organization.

Avionics & Electronics

Avionics & Electronics provides system solutions that acquire, consolidate, analyze and record all sensor and avionics data on aircraft. The business invests heavily in research and development to ensure technology leadership to deliver high performance COTS and custom engineered products. Its core capabilities include certified design and development processes (DO-178 and DO-254) combined with mature quality processes (AS9100). It offers a wide range of product and services including airborne recording, aerospace controllers, air data computing, flight test instrumentation, aircraft ice, fire and hazard systems, and space data handling systems.

Peerless Instrument

For over 60 years, Peerless, located in Farmingdale, N.Y., has been a respected provider of embedded systems, ship systems and integration, valve controls, meters and associated services. In addition, Peerless offers innovative electronics design and manufacturing capabilities. The business excels in hardware and software design, manufacturing and test, and in program management.

INDAL Technologies

With over 50 years experience, INDAL Technologies is a world leader in the design and development of ship-borne helicopter handling systems, cable handling systems, specialized structures and other sophisticated systems for the U.S. and international navies. The company combines a high level of engineering and manufacturing capability with expertise in the management of large and complex defense programs to provide unique solutions and deliver profound value for its customers

With the addition of the three businesses, Curtiss-Wright’s Defense segment is better positioned to address the rapidly evolving requirements of today’s naval, aerospace and ground defense systems.

The division now provides solutions ranging from managing the flow of liquids on nuclear-powered submarines, to controlling the lift, flight and landing of aircraft, and stabilizing the weapons systems on armored vehicles.

Defense Solutions supports an array of ship building programs with pumping, power and propulsion technologies operating at the heart of submarines and aircraft carriers; instrumentation and control systems; auxiliary systems; and shipborne aircraft and helicopter landing systems. Curtiss-Wright has significant content on every U.S. Navy submarine and aircraft carrier.
