Parker Aerospace selects Crane ATRU for power conversion on COMAC C919 aircraft

PARIS, 15 June 2015. Parker Aerospace engineers needed a reliable power converter for their work on COMAC C919 Horizontal Stabilizer Motor Control Electronics (MCE). They found their solution at Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), selecting Crane’s ELDEC Auto-Transformer Rectifier Unit (ATRU).

PARIS, 15 June 2015. Parker Aerospace engineers needed a reliable power converter for their work on COMAC C919 Horizontal Stabilizer Motor Control Electronics (MCE). They found their solution at Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. (NYSE:CR), selecting Crane’s ELDEC Auto-Transformer Rectifier Unit (ATRU).

The ELDEC ATRU is a lightweight AC-DC converter with high efficiency and low distortion that converts aircraft AC power to high voltage DC at a continuous 1500 watts. It provides affordable, efficient, and reliable power conversion while meeting today's stringent power quality requirements, officials say.

The Comac C919 is a family of narrow-body, twin-engine airliners from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac). Officials say it will be the largest commercial airliner designed and built in China since the defunct Shanghai Y-10. It is expected to take its first flight this year, with first deliveries scheduled for late 2018.The C919 is intended to compete against Airbus A320, Boeing 737, and Irkut MC-21 commercial aircraft.
