Connected aircraft market, demand for in-flight communications, entertainment, and connectivity to reach $1.8 billion
LONDON, 23 July 2015. The value of the global connected aircraft market will reach $1,851.8 million in this year, according to Visiongain's “Connected Aircraft Market Report 2015-2025” report.
“With explosive growth in the ownership of wi-fi enabled personal electronic devices, there is an expectation to be able to remain connected to the Internet at all times, including in an aircraft cabin environment,” affirm Visiongain analysts in London.
“The aviation sector has provided in-flight connectivity since the early years of the 21st century. However, with the popularity of video streaming, and an overall increase in data usage from consumer electronics, airlines are facing the challenge of offering solutions to provide high-speed Internet connections and increased data capacity to meet levels of quality and reliability that they would experience on the ground,” they add.
Visiongain’s 284-page report evaluates current opportunities, and future outlook for the connected aircraft market for the period 2015-2025. The report considers three key submarkets: Ku-band connectivity, Ka-band connectivity, and air-to-ground (ATG) connectivity, along with five regional markets. The report also identifies key opportunities for aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems alongside content providers, airlines, and aircraft operators.
