CYPRESS, Calif., 2 Dec. 2015. U.S. Department of Defense officials sought more modern and higher resolution visuals for the A-10C simulator. They found their solution at CymSTAR in Broken Arrow, Okla., and Christie Digital Systems in Cypress, Calif.

Christie won a contract to upgrade 21 training device installations in 12 months.

“Christie met the requirements the government and Department of Defense wanted – and was the lowest price,” explains CymSTAR Director of Business Development Chris Miller. “They wanted a solution with a longer lifespan, fewer maintenance issues and higher resolution. The Christie Matrix StIM™ WQ LED met all of the requirements the customer was looking for.”

The upgrade solves an obsolescence issue and enhances training value, which includes being capable of adding software upgrades such as AccuFrame Pro later as the customer desires, officials say.

“I think the new projector’s capabilities opened the eyes of the customer to what the potentials may be in the future, given they have installed it and are using them day to day,” Miller adds. “The customer loves the result of the refresh; both what it does now and what it can provide in the future has them excited.”

The entire project is planned to be completed at the end of December.

Christie Digital Systems USA Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ushio Inc. in Japan, designs sophisticated virtual reality, simulation systems and control room environments including high-resolution power walls, multi-sided immersive environments, curved screen displays, domed simulation, and multi-projector arrays. Industries and organizations that rely on Christie range from government agencies to oil and gas, aerospace to entertainment, and manufacturing and design to pharmaceuticals.

Based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, CymSTAR LLC is a HUBZone Certified and Service‐Disabled Veteran‐Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) established in 2003 to provide engineering and systems integration of newly developed or modified weapon systems for all branches of the United States military.
