WICHITA, Kan. -- Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics has announced the creation of a new scholarship program dedicated to the memory of the late Pat Napolitano.

Napolitano, 53, died May 25 when his Beech D-17 Staggerwing crashed near Santa Fe, N.M. He was reportedly piloting the aircraft from Mid-Continent's headquarters in Wichita back to his home in Fresno, Calif.

Now, Mid-Continent, where Napolitano worked as a fleet support representative for more than 15 years, is establishing the Pat Napolitano Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Technicians. The program is open to graduating high school seniors or current college students pursuing Aviation Technician Certifications, with administrative support provided by the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) Educational Foundation.

"Pat's love for aviation was contagious," said Todd Winter, President and CEO Of Mid-Continent. "He was a passionate and caring person, an impressive pilot and technical expert. He helped make flying fun. We will miss him greatly and remember him every time we fly."

For more information about the scholarship, contact Julie Lowrance, Mid-Continental's Director of Communications, at (316) 630-0101.
